Summary
Omi RSS is self-hosted software. The project operates no service that receives your reading data. Where your data goes is determined entirely by where you run it and what you point it at.
This website
This site is static. It loads no analytics, sets no cookies, and contacts no trackers. If you submit your email address for release updates, that address is stored solely to send those updates and used for nothing else. Reply to any email you receive to be removed.
Browser extension
In standalone mode, the extension stores subscriptions, saved articles, and settings in browser-local storage. It fetches feeds and site favicons; publishers, redirects, and content hosts can receive requests. In server-paired mode, it sends account credentials (including an email address if used to sign in), subscriptions, saved URLs and content, and read/save state to the server you configure. It has no advertising or analytics service. Firefox discloses these transmission categories during installation; pairing remains your choice.
Browser sync and exports
Some extension preferences use browser sync storage and may be synchronized by your browser provider when enabled. Exported OPML and backup files are saved wherever you choose; any cloud storage or backup service you use has its own privacy policy.
A self-hosted server
Accounts, subscriptions, and articles are stored in your instance's PostgreSQL database; Redis holds cache and queue data, and uploaded avatars live on its filesystem. The worker fetches the curated Discover catalog at startup and periodically, even for feeds nobody has subscribed to. It also fetches subscribed feeds, monitored pages, and article URLs, and uses your SMTP relay if configured. Publishers and their redirects/CDNs can see requests. Reading images or opening links can contact external hosts. The software includes no project telemetry service.
Mobile clients
Mobile apps such as NetNewsWire, FeedMe, and FocusReader can connect through the Google Reader compatible API. Those clients may also contact media hosts or other services; their privacy policies govern their behavior. Full sync and media playback in individual native clients have not been verified.
Data deletion
Delete your account on your instance to remove your server-side data, or clear or uninstall the extension to remove its local data. The project itself holds nothing to delete.
